  • Location: Scotland (hybrid role with visits to office/site as required)
  • Rate: £500 – £550 per day, outside IR35
  • Start date: ASAP/ May 2026
  • Duration: 2 years

An experienced Senior Project Engineer is required to support the delivery of high-voltage transmission and distribution projects for a leading global energy organisation. This role will take ownership of small projects or defined work packages within larger programmes, ensuring successful delivery across technical, commercial, and programme requirements.

You will play a key role in coordinating engineering, procurement, and supplier activities while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement across internal teams and external partners. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical grid infrastructure projects supporting the energy transition.

Duties

  • Full responsibility for delivery of small projects or allocated work packages, ensuring performance against cost, time, and technical requirements
  • Define and manage engineering work packages, supporting Design Engineers with equipment specifications and technical scope
  • Liaise closely with Technical Lead Engineers to ensure alignment on design and delivery strategy
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor packages through procurement, delivery, and handover. Coordinating with Procurement on their engagement, including performance evaluation
  • Ensure all technical and quality documentation is in place to support factory acceptance testing (FAT), including attendance where required
  • Monitor and report risks, variations, and opportunities, escalating where necessary
  • Prepare and deliver monthly progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as Engineer’s Representative for subcontractor and supplier packages
  • Interface with site teams and commissioning engineers to support successful project execution
  • Drive stakeholder engagement and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Ensure timely resolution of project issues and proactive decision-making

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project engineering or contract management within transmission & distribution or related sectors
  • Demonstrable experience delivering technical aspects of infrastructure or energy projects
  • Understanding of transmission & distribution standards, technologies, and best practices
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supplier packages
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
  • IT literate with experience in project reporting
