Mechanical Site Supervisor – HV Substation
(National Grid)
Location: Starting at Sellindge, UK (UK wide)
Rates: 40–£45 per hour
Duration: 6 month rolling contract (Long-term contract with ongoing UK project pipeline)
Turner Lovell are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor to support delivery on a major high-voltage substation project at Sellindge. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term programme of works within the UK T&D sector, with further project continuity beyond initial scope.
You will play a key role in supervising mechanical installation works within a live HV environment, ensuring all site activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with National Grid standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day mechanical installation activities on site
- Support the Site Manager in delivering works to programme and specification
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Carry out and record daily inspections and site checks
- Complete and manage quality documentation and site records
- Assist with site inductions and workforce coordination
- Monitor progress and proactively identify and resolve potential issues
Requirements:
- Proven experience working on National Grid substation projects
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- National Grid Competent Person certification
- Strong understanding of HV site practices and safety procedures
- Good IT/computer literacy for documentation and reporting
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
