Turner Lovell are recruiting a TP137/SR163 Site Manager, experienced working on projects from inception through to completion. The role is to lead on behalf of a key contractor, on a HV substation project.

The Site Manager will be involved in building new & refurbishing the existing substation. The scope of the role will also include site management of associated OHL works and HV cabling.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on high profile schemes, drive safety standards, provide leadership to internal resources and demonstrate excellent communication skills to all key stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acting as Principal Site Manager for the project
  • Management of site workers, subcontractors, and all general works on site
  • Ensuring Safety documentation (Construction Phase plans, QA plans – ITP’s and Risk Assessments / Method Statements) are developed and enacted on site
  • Review civil design for pre-construction phases & liaise with the civil design team recommending alternate design, installation methodologies, materials etc. raising TQ’s when necessary
  • Help to reduce construction associated costs
  • Planning and programming of current and future works
  • Completion of As built drawings for handover file

Requirements:

  • Current authorisation to National Grid TP 137.11 / SR163
  • NG Comp Person, HSG47, 3-day first aid tickets
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the construction of substations (or existing substation refurbishment/extension experience) up to 400kV
  • Experience working as a TP137 site manager on projects with a civils value >£10-15m or an overall value of at least £40m
  • Hands on experience with construction methodologies
  • Qualified to a suitable level in Construction, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts & Health, Safety and Environment legislation
  • Experience in Cost / Value reporting
  • Ability to organise resources, set out priorities, and work within budget & programme timescales
  • Understand and interpret construction phase & site quality plans with quick mobilisation ability
  • Full Driving Licence essential
