Our client is an international EPC from with a large pipeline of electricity transmission and HVDC projects across Europe. We are supporting them to shortlist a Senior Project Manager- HVDC Equipment responsible for the project delivery of HVDC specialist equipment for large electricity and renewable energy projects.
As Senior Project Manager – HVDC Equipment, you will take responsibility for a team of over 20 people that take the design / manufacturing of HVDC equipment and ensure that is it executed into high profile projects, +£2bn in value. This is a fantastic opportunity to have accountability for P&L, project delivery, stakeholder engagement and people management on a project that will play a key role in the UK energy transition. The specialist HVDC equipment and components range from converters, valves, transformers, control and protection systems. In this role you will overseeing project engineering, planning, quality, installation, commissioning. By joining at the early stages of the project, you will be able to positively influence the project with the support of other senior leaders in the business.
The role:
- Lead the execution of HVDC equipment and associated components to HVDC projects in the UK.
- Lead an international, matrix organisation of +20 people design, procurement, planning, quality, installation and commissioning.
- Provide subject matter expertise on HVDC technology and power electronics to the project leadership.
- Support the Project Director to identify risks and opportunities associated with the various scopes of work.
- Drive high standards in HSE, program, planning, environmental and quality.
- Coordinate support between engineering, manufacturing facilities and site execution teams.
- Develop partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered on time, budget and to customer satisfaction.
- Provide regular reports on the operational and financial status of the project to senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- Participate in tenders, contract negotiations, settlements and claims.
The Person
- MSc, BSc in engineering, project management or construction
- Experience leading the execution of HVDC projects, ideally in an offshore/subsea environment.
- Technical knowledge in Power Electronics and HVDC transmission.
- At least 3 years as a Project Manager with associated project management training / qualifications.
- Advanced knowledge in planning, procurement, risk management, contract/cost management and construction
- Leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams with complex project interfaces
- Excellent communication, problem solving and management skills to lead challenging HVDC project.
