Civil Setting Out Engineer (Resident Engineer) – National Grid Substation

Turner Lovell is recruiting for a Civil Setting Out Engineer (Resident Engineer) to support works on a National Grid substation project. This role will be responsible for delivering accurate site setting out, supporting the civil construction team, and ensuring works comply with National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS).
The successful candidate will work closely with the site team to support construction activities, technical queries, and documentation management across the civils scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out setting out of line and level using various surveying equipment to support civil construction activities.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS) and project drawings.
- Act as Document Controller for all civil drawings, maintaining accurate and up-to-date site documentation.
- Support the civil site team with constructability reviews and provide technical input where required.
- Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs) relating to design or construction issues.
- Assist with obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and raising purchase orders where required.
- Produce and complete as-built drawings to reflect completed works.
- Work closely with the project team to ensure quality, safety, and compliance standards are maintained on site.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working on National Grid sites.
- Must hold National Grid Persons (NG Persons) certification.
- Proven experience setting out line and level using surveying equipment.
- Strong understanding of National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS).
- Ability to manage civil documentation and drawing control.
- Experience supporting civil site teams with technical queries and construction coordination.
