NDT Inspector/ Technician
Location: Lincoln (Base Office)
Travel: Midlands, Scunthorpe, Sheffield + potential international travel (Italy, Germany, China)
Contract: 6 Month Initial Contract (Strong Potential to Go Permanent)
Rate:
- £35–£40 per hour PAYE
- £40–£50 per hour Umbrella
Turner Lovell are recruiting for a leading engineering business supporting the power generation sector across the UK and global supply chain.
This opportunity sits within a specialist quality function responsible for the inspection and integrity assurance of critical casting components used in gas turbine applications.
The Role:
Based out of Lincoln, you will carry out non-destructive and dimensional inspections on turbine casting components across UK supplier sites.
The majority of travel will be UK-based (Midlands, Scunthorpe, Sheffield), with potential overseas supplier visits to Italy, Germany and China where required. UK travel will form the bulk of your workload.
You will operate independently, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, reviewing supplier documentation, identifying discrepancies, and driving corrective actions where required.
This role would suit an experienced NDT professional who is confident working autonomously in supplier environments and comfortable challenging technical deviations.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation, execution and reporting of NDT inspections on gas and steam turbine cast components
- Inspection activities conducted primarily at UK supplier facilities
- Technical review of supplier inspection documentation
- Identification and formal documentation of deviations
- Coordination of corrective and preventive actions with suppliers
- Supporting supplier qualification and quality improvement initiatives
- Conducting root cause analysis using structured quality tools
- Implementation of Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and risk mitigation processes
- Collaboration with internal engineering and procurement teams
Requirements
- Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- ISO 9712 (or equivalent) certification to Level II minimum in:
- VT
- MT
- PT
- UT
- Proven experience inspecting cast components
- Strong understanding of quality methodologies:
- 5 Why
- FMEA
- 8D
- Root Cause Analysis
- Comfortable travelling regularly across the UK
- SAP and MS Office experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly report technical findings
- Full UK driving licence
