Job Title: Materials Coordinator / Materials Controller

Location: Norfolk
Reports To: Site Manager / Project Manager
Contract: 24 months
Rates: £35 an hour

Turner Lovell is seeking experienced Storemen / Materials Controllers to support major substation construction and maintenance projects. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end flow of materials, ensuring everything is ordered, delivered, stored, and tracked correctly. Your contribution will help maintain safe working practices, prevent delays, and keep projects running to programme.

Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate records of stock quantities, locations, and movements
  • Monitor stock levels and work with procurement to ensure timely availability
  • Document all material transactions and generate required reports

Procurement & Supplier Coordination

  • Work with suppliers to obtain quotes, place orders, and track deliveries
  • Communicate order status and delivery schedules to the site team

Material Planning

  • Review project schedules to determine material requirements
  • Plan and schedule materials in line with construction phases

Site Logistics

  • Organise storage areas for efficient access and safe handling
  • Coordinate with site teams for smooth delivery and handling of materials

Quality & Compliance

  • Verify incoming materials meet required standards
  • Ensure compliance with site safety, environmental, and quality regulations
  • Identify and resolve material-related issues promptly

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
  • Support strategic logistics planning and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in materials control, logistics, or inventory management, preferably in construction or energy projects
  • Knowledge of substation or high-voltage components is advantageous
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Relevant site certifications: CSCS, ECS, CCNSG, Telehandler

  • Accurate and up-to-date inventory records
  • Timely material specification documentation
  • Efficient coordination with suppliers and site teams
  • Well-organised, compliant storage areas
  • Accurate analysis of material needs according to project plans
