Lead Design Verification Engineer – Primary Equipment
- Location: Northeast, United Kingdom (working from home, 2 days a week available)
- Rate: £65 – £75 per hour, outside IR35 (negotiable, subject to experience)

Turner Lovell are searching for a Design Verification Engineer, to work on multiple energy projects throughout the UK. Our client are looking for a leader that has vast experience with verification of primary equipment designs (11kV – 400kV equipment) and can handle and resolve challenges that may arise.

Duties:
- To be responsible, approve, and deliver the primary equipment designs, with a team of Design Engineers for the projects responsible for.
- To chair design reviews, ensure adherence to design specifications, process and co-ordinate with all departments to ensure consistency of designs within the business
- To liaise with department heads and management teams to ensure all designs are completed to a high-quality technical output from the team, in alignment with the agreed timescales and budget.
- To co-ordinate with the Engineering Planners and monitor the engineering progress, escalating issues when required to the Engineering Manager
- Ensure all design risk assessments / HAZIDs are in place for all design solutions and residual risks are handed over to the H&S file.
- Ensure all company compliance requirements are aligned with the companies’ policies (e.g. confidential information)
- Strong communication, accountability, collaboration are always exhibited to ensure that the team is reaching positive outcomes. To train the team where necessary, to guide employees by setting goals, expectations and facilitating the work of others.
- Accountable for managing both your own and team’s workload. To be accountable for resources, budgets, and all other necessary factors.
Requirements:
- 10 years’ experience within the Electricity T&D industry
- 5 years’ experience within the UK as a Lead Design Engineer
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- National Grid TP188 ticket
- Ability to understand and interpret the designs of primary equipment on 3D design models
- Up-to-date knowledge of SHEQ (including CDM), IT literacy, and HV T&D standards within the UK
