  • Rate: £600 – £650 per day, outside IR35

Turner Lovell are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a major renewable energy project in the UK. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate the full lifecycle delivery of high-voltage electrical infrastructure works, with a strong focus on substation delivery, protection & control systems, and SCADA integration activities.

This role requires strong client-facing capability, commercial awareness, and experience managing transmission-level substation projects from design through to commissioning and energisation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a 275kV / 400kV substation project, coordinating all phases from design and procurement through to construction, testing, commissioning, and energisation.
  • Act as the primary client interface, ensuring effective communication, programme reporting, and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, protection & control, SCADA, and commissioning personnel.
  • Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and internal delivery teams to ensure project milestones and programme requirements are achieved.
  • Coordinate protection & control, SCADA, and substation automation integration activities including SyCon/SICAM interfaces and commissioning support.
  • Maintain a strong focus on Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance throughout project execution.
  • Monitor programme, costs, risks, and overall project performance, implementing mitigation measures where required.
  • Support commercial management activities including change control, forecasting, valuations, and contract administration.
  • Coordinate outages, approvals, and interfaces with TSO, DNOs, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Produce and communicate regular project reports to senior management and clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Project Management within the UK transmission, utilities, or HV electrical infrastructure sector.
  • Proven experience delivering HV substation projects at 132kV, 275kV, or 400kV level.
  • Strong understanding of substation construction, protection & control systems, SCADA, and transmission network infrastructure.
  • Previous experience working with SyCon/SICAM or equivalent substation automation and control systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects valued from £10m+.
  • Ability to travel to site/offices regularly as required.
  • Project Management qualification or training desirable (APM, PRINCE2, PMI or equivalent).
  • Valid CSCS / Safety Passport preferred.
