Power System Engineer – Grid Compliance & Simulation

  • Location: Bourgogne, France (Relocation Required)
  • Contract Type: Permanent – CDI
  • Languages: Must be fluent in French and proficient in English

Turner Lovell is working with a leading energy technology company that plays a crucial role in shaping the electrification and decarbonisation of global infrastructure. We are currently supporting their search for a High Voltage Network Modelling Engineer to join their engineering team. This role is perfect for an engineer with a passion for simulation, system modelling, and contributing to grid stability on major international projects.

You will be involved in grid performance validation of electrical conversion systems such as STATCOMs, synchronous condensers, and frequency converters – ensuring full compliance with international grid codes.

Your Role:
You will be responsible for performing advanced simulations and system studies to validate the integration of complex electrical systems into HV grids, supporting both project delivery and on-site commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model power systems, loads, and equipment using software such as Matlab/Simulink, ETAP, PSCAD, PSS/E, or DigSilent.
  • Conduct static load flow and short-circuit studies across key network nodes.
  • Perform transient and dynamic simulations for voltage and frequency behaviour (phasor domain).
  • Analyse and tune control systems including regulators, limiters, and power system stabilisers (PSS).
  • Lead harmonic and stability assessments, including EMT simulations and insulation coordination.
  • Define protection settings and ensure selectivity across the overall electrical system.
  • Provide commissioning support and assist in root cause investigations when required.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in grid modelling, HV network analysis, or power system simulation.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Plecs, ETAP, or PSCAD.
  • Solid understanding of electrical system dynamics and protection principles.
  • Fluent in French and proficient in English.
  • Willing to relocate to Bourgogne and travel occasionally within France and internationally.
  • Must hold EU work eligibility – no visa sponsorship available.

Why Apply?

  • Join a forward-thinking team delivering energy infrastructure of the future.
  • Work on technically ambitious, high-impact international projects.
  • Gain exposure to modern tools, simulation platforms, and real-world systems integration.
  • Be part of a diverse, collaborative team committed to the energy transition.
