We are currently supporting a global  engineering, construction  and project delivery firm involved in major energy infrastructure programs across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
To support the development of new grid infrastructure and transmission assets, we are looking for a Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in HV substation design and layout. Someone one 380kV, 220kV or 132kV substation experience and knowledge of SEC standards is the ideal candidate. We are searching for a Saudi national who has a passion for HV substation design and the desire to work on significant infrastructure projects in the region.
Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and optimise primary design layouts for high-voltage substations (230kv and above), considering space constraints, operational access, and safety requirements
  • Select and integrate key substation components such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, conductors, clamps, and insulators
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, and SEC grid codes)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, automation, protection, and systems engineers
  • Support procurement and project delivery teams with technical specifications, drawings, and documentation
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and progress updates

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HV substation design in Saudi Arabia (132kv, 22kV, 380kVor higher)
  • Proven ability to work independently on projects from base and conceptual design
  • Experience working on design projects for SEC.
  • Proficiency in design software tools; AutoCAD required.
  • Solid understanding of substation components, integration principles, and safety codes
  • Familiarity with protection and control systems is an advantage
