The Role
As Deputy Project Director, you will support the Project Director in leading the successful delivery of large-scale projects from initiation through to completion. You will play a key role in keeping projects on track, ensuring alignment with programme objectives, and maintaining high standards across safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Director in the day-to-day leadership and execution of major projects
- Drive project activities to ensure delivery against agreed milestones, scope, budget, and quality expectations
- Coordinate project schedules, resources, and materials to keep execution running efficiently
- Act as a key point of contact for internal teams, external partners, and wider stakeholders
- Maintain clear communication across the project lifecycle, ensuring expectations are managed effectively
- Help lead, motivate, and align multidisciplinary teams around common project goals
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, encouraging a collaborative and accountable working culture
- Oversee project reporting and documentation, ensuring records are accurate, current, and well managed
- Monitor project quality standards and support audits, reviews, and corrective action plans where needed
- Assist with budget planning, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Identify project risks early, support mitigation planning, and track actions through to resolution
- Spot opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and cost optimisation across delivery activities
The Ideal Candidate
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline
- Around 10+ years of experience in system project management
- Proven background delivering large-scale, complex projects
- Strong leadership capability with experience coordinating diverse project teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and make sound decisions
- Good understanding of project financials, reporting, and resource planning
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards relevant to project delivery
- PMP certification would be advantageous
