Commercial Contracts Manager
• Location: Hybrid; Newcastle (2–3 days per week in office) with quarterly travel
• Rate: £500 – £600 per day (Outside IR35)
• Duration: Initial contract until end of September (extension highly likely)
• Start Date: ASAP / from 1st February (minimum 2 weeks’ notice)
Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of a growing, product-focused engineering business operating across the UK & Ireland. Due to continued market growth and an expanding order book, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Contracts Manager to support order execution activities within the GT TR / OEX (Order Execution) function.
This role provides dedicated commercial and contractual support to the project execution team, acting as the primary interface during delivery and taking ownership of contracts, risk, and claims across a busy, customer-driven portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as the primary commercial and contractual point of contact during project execution
• Administer and interpret customer contracts and subcontracts across live orders
• Support Project Managers in managing commercial risk, opportunity, cost, and change
• Lead variations, claims, and compensation events (from low value to £1.6m+) through to settlement
• Ensure timely contractual notifications and compliance with contract timescales
• Maintain accurate financial oversight, including forecasting, risk position, and out-turn cost
• Manage relationships with customers, factories, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Attend and contribute to project and customer meetings
• Support procurement and legal teams with contractual terms and reviews
• Develop and embed improved contract and claims management processes and strategies
Requirements
• Background in Quantity Surveying, Contract Management, or commercial project delivery
• Strong experience with NEC and FIDIC forms of contract
• Proven capability in claims management, negotiation, and contract administration
• Sound commercial awareness, including understanding of contract law principles
• Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and commercial risk
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate autonomously
Desirable
• Chartered Quantity Surveyor (RICS / CICES)
• Experience with C Contracts and/or NEC5
• Background in a product-led or engineering delivery environment
• Experience working with international customers or stakeholders
