Civil Resident Engineer

  • Start date: April/May 2023
  • Contract: 12-18 months, with possible extension
  • Rate: £400 – £450 per day, outside IR35 (all inclusive)

Turner Lovell are recruiting for a site based Resident Engineer to support the enabling works, earthwork packages, main build (civil works) and building service packages for large energy facilities being built in Kent. Our client is an international engineering and construction firm, with a wide range of projects throughout the UK and Europe.

In this role, you will support the Project Manager in managing the site team delivering the civil works of the project. The role will also involve overseeing works such as drainage installation, access roads, and any other requirements needed whilst on site.

This role will suit someone with extensive civil construction experience on large projects with the ability and confidence to work independently developing and monitoring quality Inspection Test Plans and other QA/QC standards and procedures. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure subcontractors are adhering to specifications, designs, and RAMS.
  • Review the performance and progress of the project to ensure timely and quality compliance & completion through onsite inspection and any verification measures.
  • Identify and coordinate interface works in line with designs and the programme.
  • Working with the design team to offer technical solutions for Contractors TQ’s regarding the designs.  

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on UK civil work projects
  • HND, Degree or equivalent Civil Engineering qualification
  • Experience working on civil scopes of work >£5m – ideally on HV Substations, Energy projects
  • Track record in upholding quality standards in civil construction practices. 
  • Relevant site safety, site management certificates, such as SMSTS / SSSTS & CSCS
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with clients, subcontractors, and project leadership teams.
  • Site tickets required: HSG47 and Cat & Genny, Safety Passport etc.
