Job Title: Senior SHEQ Advisor
Location: London & South East (Croydon / Central London)
Duration: 6-Month Rolling Contract (Outside IR35)
Rate: £450 per day (up to £500 for exceptional experience)

Turner Lovell is recruiting a Senior SHEQ Advisor to support a leading utilities contractor delivering a major 132kV cable route project across London. This role involves overseeing SHEQ performance on multiple civils and electrical utility worksites, ensuring safe excavation, ducting, and cabling activities within residential streets and urban environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced advisor who is confident working across multiple sites, engaging with field teams, and ensuring best practice on a fast-paced infrastructure programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day SHEQ support across multiple cable route project sites (5–6 active sites across London).
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and safety investigations.
- Review and approve RAMS, ensuring they reflect practical and safe methods of work.
- Support site set-up activities and monitor compliance with SHE regulations and company standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture across civils and utility operations, focusing on safe excavation and cable installation.
- Interface directly with clients and key stakeholders across the project route.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Travel daily between sites across London and the South East as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor / HSE Advisor within utilities, electrical utilities, or civils infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of civils activities including excavation, ducting, cable installation, and street works.
- Exposure to electrical utility projects (e.g., 11kV–132kV).
Substation experience beneficial but not essential. - IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications expected; CSCS required.
- Practical experience valued above formal qualifications.
- Confident engaging with site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and travel to multiple sites daily.
