Project Manager, Substation Maintenance

Scope of Work: A key role in a growing team that will lead complex projects from planning through execution, on the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage substation equipment across Ireland.

Turner Lovell is recruiting a Project Manager to join a global leader in sustainable energy and power grid technologies in Ireland, offering a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join the leader in their specialism. You will lead complex HV Substation projects from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and schedule while managing risks and stakeholder expectations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in the energy sector.
Your key responsibilities in the role will include:
- Project Responsibility: Allocate project tasks; motivate and monitor internal and external resources against tasks and milestones; and provide performance feedback against project progress.
- Planning and Scheduling: Define project plan documents, covering scope and financial plans, schedule, and risk management plans, jointly with the Project Controls department.
- Project Execution and Control: Ensure the project follows execution best practices; monitor and control project progress and resource utilization; oversee project financials; ensure the project is formally closed out as contractually agreed.
- Contract, Claims, and Procurement Management: Consistently apply contract and claims management; coordinate with Supply Chain Management to procure required services, materials, and equipment; supporting in supplier negotiations, claims, and project changes.
- Stakeholder Relations: Act as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues; build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
The ideal profile is someone who is:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Project Management, or a related field; or suitable relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in the delivery of maintenance works on HV substations.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedure
