Turner Lovell is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to join a fast-growing utilities contractor delivering high-voltage substation projects across London. This is a contract opportunity to support a dynamic project team and drive SHEQ excellence on key National Grid and DNO infrastructure projects.

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, implementing best practices, and promoting a strong safety-first culture on-site. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a company that is expanding rapidly in the energy and utilities sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage SHEQ activities across multiple substation projects in London.

  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001), and utility SHE standards.

  • Develop project-specific SHEQ plans and toolbox talks.

  • Support the delivery teams in achieving zero harm and high safety performance.

  • Interface with clients (e.g., National Grid, UKPN, SSEN) on SHEQ matters.

  • Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Proven SHEQ Manager or HSE Advisor experience on substation or HV infrastructure projects.

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential).

  • Strong knowledge of CDM and UK utilities sector SHEQ practices.

  • Experience with ISO standards (9001/14001/45001).

  • Ability to influence and engage site teams and subcontractors.

  • Previous experience with National Grid/DNOs is highly desirable
